Yaama… I will start off with, it has been such a busy time.
Since Melbourne has come out of lockdown, I have been run off my feet. My work involves working in community supporting artists, also working on murals. I haven’t had much time to get out and do any photography. So, I am looking forward to taking a break in January of the new year and getting out and about doing a bit of travelling with my partner and our dog Archie, hopefully we’ll have a bit of a relaxing time, and also get some photos and a bit of inspiration for my art.
This month has brought some exciting news at least for my art practice. My first ever entry into the Linden Post Card Exhibition sold fairly fast. A big thank you to that lucky art collector for your purchase.
The next gigantic thing for me was in this years Koorie Art Show, which is run by the Koorie Heritage Trust, where I received the KHT Emerging Artist Award for my artwork ‘Twilight Flight’. The story for this artwork was a poem that is about how Biya (the Whistling Kite) can be found on every nation on our mainland.
Twilight Flight
Circling above, in the twilight blue
A spirit strong, through and through
Over mainland nations, whistling loud
A call so distinct, a call so proud
Biya is this raptor’s name, flying above Gamilaroi terrain

This is my artwork above, printed on a 1020mm round aluminium disc.
Yaluu…
